Introducing, BisousBabs
Hello, world! If you're reading this you're likely a close friend or family member, or you happened upon this site by mistake đ Regardless of the reason you found my page, I'm happy you're here! See the below Q&A for more information and what to expect:
Who is Bisous Babs? In short, still figuring it out! But in all seriousness, Bisous Babs is an early 30-something American expat fulfilling her lifelong dream of living and working abroad, accompanied by her four-legged sidekick, Mosley đž While Babs loves traveling, hot yoga, and meeting new people, she has a passion for body positivity, self-care, and mental health. Does this make her basic? Probably. Does she care? Absolutely not đđ˝ââď¸
Why a blog? First of all, a blog is a great way to capture, memorialize, and share my experiences with those closest to me. Second of all, writing is something I truly enjoy and provides the space and freedom for me to understand and process my feelings. If you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, writing could be a great outlet for you as well!
What can I expect? As someone who enjoys creative writing and journaling, I thought it would be fun to share some of my thoughts and experiences while living abroad. Given this is a personal lifestyle blog, Bisous Babs will cover my daily life experiences as an American expat living in Europe. Depending on the day I might also write about plus-size fashion, mental health, travel tips, my dog Mosley, or a variety of other topics.
Why the name Bisous Babs? Let's start with
"bisous," which means "kiss" in French. If you know me at all, you know I love everything about the French culture and language. As for Babs, that's a bit more convoluted. Simply put, my parents named me Barbara Alexandra after some close relatives but always called me Alex. I'm sure you can imagine all the confusion this caused in schools, doctors' offices, and anywhere my legal name was required (yay, so fun!). While I go by Alex in everyday life, my first name Barbara has always been a large part of my identity. Enter, Babs...the alter ego and nickname that has followed me from one friend group to the next. While going by Alex may have made things more difficult, I've grown to love my full name and the connection I have to certain family members.
So what's next? So many things! Since I'm new to blogging, my posts may not be as consistent to start, so please be patient. Again, this page is mostly an outlet for me to share my experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Follow along to discover what living abroad is really like. Hint: it's nothing like Emily in Paris đ
Thank you for reading!
Bisous, Babs đ
